HELLO FROM THAILAND and happy Aquarius season, my friends. What a treat! Celestial electricity.
The New Moon in Aquarius asks us to be flexible, to transform with the winds of change. Aquarius is restless, imaginative, authentic, quick, light, nimble. He says no to tradition and yes to non-conformity, living spontaneously and breaking all the rules.
Aquarius is ruled by Uranus, the Great Awakener: rebellious, innovative, liberated. Uranus focuses on inner brilliance, future plans and all things new, alternative and groundbreaking, especially in social and creative spheres. Experiment, color outside the lines, shed your skin.
Aquarius derives immense satisfaction from being of use to others. The sign of the water bearer symbolically provides a basic necessity to the masses. As an air sign, the water bearer sources from the mental body. Aquarius is a highly intellectual original thinker and social butterfly. He will talk to anyone about anything. Candid and open-minded, Aquarius tends toward detachment. This is how the water bearer protects his spirit. Extreme aloofness may manifest in aggressive philosophical debates or irreconcilable personality conflicts. It is important to see Aquarian neutrality for what it is: a method to remain objective, nothing more.
The purpose of any new moon is to clear out and start over. We must enact the highest expression of who we want to be at the beginning of each lunar cycle. Luna in Aquarius is always pleased to witness fearlessness. There’s something delectably raw about the Aquarian soul. The water bearer has magical conviction.
Coinciding on the same day of this new moon is the beginning of the Chinese New Year. 2016 is the year of the Red Fire Monkey. My knowledge of Chinese Astrology does not extend beyond the basics, but I did learn recently that the year of your own birth-year animal, known as tai sui, is not considered auspicious, so all you monkeys out there, beware. Traditional Chinese advice to ward off the negative influence of tai sui includes wearing red and making an altar pointed in the cardinal direction associated with your animal. In any case, enjoy the festivities! Boogie down! Party on! Righteous!
